First results of the Echo Reforestation Monitoring study; an analysis of growth data and survival rates of all native trees planted in the reforestation areas
Name presenter: Nils Buisman, Msc. student Forest and Nature Conservation, Wageningen University
Echo will present the first results of this ongoing monitoring project, including data on growth and survival rates of thousands of native trees, planted on Bonaire as part of the Echo reforestation project, funded and initiated by OLB. This project aims at the protection of 10 herbivore free exclosure areas of 1 hectare in size. Within each area, around 2.000 native trees will be planted. Echo is annually measuring every single planted tree in every reforestation exclosure within the project. This immense data collection project will allow us to get a detailed insight in the growth characteristics and survival rates of the native tree species on Bonaire.
