Connecting people with nature: Sargassum – From Golden, Floating Rainforest to Stinking, Rotting Death-Trap; The What, Where, and Why of this Seaweed presented by STINAPA Biologist Caren Eckrich STINAPA biologist Caren Eckrich will host these evenings.  With over 20 years of experience in the Caribbean, Caren will present interesting and challenging topics on Bonaire’s nature. Join our Junior Rangers and staff for the coastal clean up at Morotin.

This area is on the east coast and therefore lots of plastic washes up on the beach. This plastic debris washing in from the Atlantic ocean is unsightly but also harmful to the intertidal marine life, so this area needs to be cleaned regularly to keep it from filling up completely with trash.

Bon Doet Beach Clean Up Primary Schools. This week Wednesday morning , April 25th, from 8.30 to 10.00, the STINAPA BonDoet school coastal clean up will take place at the east coast between MarCultura and the first bridge/Cargill inlet. This clean up was originally planned for BonDoet in March, but due to the Sargassum incident during that period, all resources within STINAPA and volunteers were geared towards removing the seaweed from the beaches. Join our Junior Rangers and staff in the regular clean up of the adopted beach at Lagun. This area is important for wildlife and it has some mangroves on the shores. Plastic debris washing in from the Atlantic ocean so this area needs to be cleaned regularly to keep it from filling in with trash. Bring water shoes and a hat. Plastic bags will be provided.
