All marine park rangers including the marine park manager are now trained or updated as Emergency First Responders including AED, and Oxygen Administration. An AED (automated external defibrillator) is a portable device that checks the heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to the heart to try to restore a normal rhythm. Many public buildings now have such devices installed.
As the marine park is often called first in emergency incidents on the water, it is imperative that our staff keep their first aid skills up to date.
The rest of the STINAPA staff and Washington Park rangers will be trained over the next few months.
