Vacancy: assistant to the manager, STINAPA Bonaire National Marine Park (20 hours p.w.)


The National Parks Foundation Bonaire (STINAPA Bonaire) is currently recruiting an assistant to the manager of the Bonaire National Marine Park (BNMP), to start as soon as possible.


STINAPA manages and protects Bonaire’s National Marine Park and the Washington Slagbaai National Park, alongside a variety of related activities, such as nature and environment education and research.


The assistant to the manager BNMP will have the following main duties:


  • Daily management of the Manager’s schedule, appointments and mail, scheduling and taking minutes of meetings and other secretarial duties;
  • Planning and following up on the Manager’s tasks and responsibilities
  • General administrative and reporting tasks
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager BNMP or the executive director STINAPA


As needed, the assistant to the manager BNMP will also be required to, together with other support staff, perform tasks and duties outside the immediate scope of BNMP management.




  • Education at least at MBO-level or similar
  • A positive, energetic personality and work attitude
  • Experienced user of standard office software, such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Punctual and well-organized; consistent and efficient planning and follow-up skills
  • Excellent social and communication skills; ability to interact effectively with both staff and external actors of various backgrounds.
  • Capable of working pro-actively and independently with, occasionally, a minimum of direct guidance
  • Fluency, both spoken and written, in English is an absolute must, as is proficiency in Papiamentu and Dutch, Spanish language is an asset, but not a necessity.


Work hours and remuneration

The position is opened for 20 hours per week, to be performed from Monday to Friday and, occasionally, outside regular office hours and in weekends.


The starting salary is USD 1.760 gross monthly at 40 hours per week, and can, over time and after positive evaluations, run up to a maximum of USD 2.150 monthly at 40 hours per week.
