STINAPA’s presentation and demonstration on bats was well received by the audience that attended.
Last Saturday July 9th Desiree Croes (STINAPA’s Nature & Environmental Education Coordinator) gave a presentation on bats of Bonaire at STINAPA Headquarters.
After the presentation everyone headed to a cave in the vicinity for a demonstration by Park manager Paulo Bertuol on bat research.
Three different species were caught in the net while flying out of the cave after sunset:
The Mormoops megalophylla (The Ghostfaced Bat)
The Leptonycteris curasoae (The Curacaoan Longtongued Bat)
The Glossophaga longirostrum (The Miller Longnosed Bat)
Everyone was in awe of the only flying mammals in the world.
